Local Resources during COVID-19 Pandemic


Cannon Pharmacies offer delivery services.

Walgreens will deliver “prescription drugs and incidentals with at least 24-48 hours notice. Due to the COVID-19 virus, they are waiving fees. You can also use their drive-thru for prescription and incidentals pickup.

CVS will deliver “prescription drugs only” with at least 24-48 hours notice. Due to the COVID-19 virus, they are waiving delivery fees no matter the clients’ insurance situation.

Grocery Stores

Amazon is in the process of hiring additional workers. Due to high volume of orders currently, they are unable to take food orders at this moment. They plan to be up and running soon.

Harris Teeter offers:
-shopping for seniors 60 and over on Mondays and Thursdays from 6-7 AM,
-designated express lane for online shopping pick up on Thursdays from 9 AM – 2 PM for seniors, waving $5 fee.
-Products that are limited are: toilet paper, cleaning supplies, water, canned meat, pasta, airborne cold and flue allergy medications.

Instacart allows a shopper to buy your items in a store and then deliver them to your home. You must download their app.

Publix offers order and pick at Cabarrus Co. locations. Order online, select time and go inside store for grocery pickup. For curbside pickup or delivery, use Instacart app. For Pharmacy, please use drive-thru. They do offer shopping for seniors only (over the age of 65) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 7-8 AM.

Target offers Wednesday morning shopping for seniors.

Trader Joe’s is offering shopping for seniors that are 65 and older from 9-10 AM daily.

Walmart (at Concord Commons) allows you to order food pick it up free for free curbside. There is no same-day delivery, as you must allow at least 48 hours. They are hiring more employees to handle the demand for this service. Senior shopping is on Tuesdays from 6-7 AM.

School Systems and Organizations Offering Free Meals to Children

Boys and Girls Club offers Monday through Friday, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, meals and breakfast for the next day for ages 2-18. You do not have to be a member.

Food Pantries

Bethel Baptist Helping Hands Food Pantry, Kannapolis, is open Mondays and Thursdays, 9 AM – 1 PM.

Breath of Life Ministries Food Pantry and Closet in Concord is open every second Saturday from 9-11 AM. The next opening will be April 11.

Charity Baptist Food Pantry can be reached at (704) 938-7664. Please call the pantry before you plan on visiting to check on hours and food availability. Please enter using the second entrance and line up behind the church, remaining in your car as you continue in the drive-thru. Have ID and your current utility bill visible.

Cooperative Christian Ministry (CCM) is offering from 10 AM to 1 PM pre-bagged food via their drive through only. They ask that guests not arrive before 10 AM nor park in the parking lot.

Kimball Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, offers drive through meals on Thursday nights.

Mount Pleasant Food Pantry is located at 8615 Park Dr., Mount Pleasant, NC. This food pantry is open from 3-6 PM. (980) 621-8634.

Rocky River Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg has a Food Pantry. Call (704) 455-2479 to learn more about their food pantry’s hours.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is at 500-B Spratt St., Charlotte, NC.

Shady Brook Baptist, 1009 Oakwood Ave. in Kannapolis, will offer pre-bagged food on Thursday, 3/26, in front of the church, first come, first served.

Trinity UMC, Kannapolis, is offering food on Wednesdays.

West Point Baptist in Kannapolis will offer a food pantry that will open on Saturday, 3/28.
